Welsh Labour have mismanaged our NHS in Wales for over 20 years and are disgracefully the only Government in the UK to have cut NHS spending in the last 10 years. Under Labour targets have been missed, waiting times are higher and our hardworking health care workers are being let down.
Further to this, our NHS locally is often overlooked by the Welsh Labour Government. This is evident in the decision to site the Major Trauma Unit in Cardiff rather than Swansea, leaving Gower and West Wales vulnerable.
Myles will fight for our local NHS and has been involved with local campaigns on health issues including:
- Calling for the Major Trauma Unit to be sited in Swansea rather than Cardiff as this wil better placed to serve all of South Wales.
- Campaigning for the minor injuries unit to be reinstated at Singleton Hospital, as this will free up capacity at Morriston and provide greater capacity across Swansea for supporting patients.
- Campaigning for the Swansea Bay Field Hospital, which was created to help Swansea respond to the Coronavirus pandemic, to be kept after the pandemic has ended and be part of a positive legacy. This will add to the health facilities locally and again ensure that there is greater capacity across Swansea for dealing with patients.
Myles will provide Gower with a strong voice on health issues in the Senedd, making sure that we are not overlooked by the Welsh Government.
